A woman from Bulmer, Essex, is proving that age is just a number after an incredible athletic achievement.
Annie Reid, aged 74, has officially qualified for the prestigious Hyrox World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.
Her journey started with a simple search for a new fitness challenge at her gym in nearby Lavenham, Suffolk.
Initially doubting she could complete the grueling race—which combines 8km of running with intense workout stations—Reid began training with coach Vicky Edwards at E3 Fitness.
She competed at a London Hyrox event with the sole goal of finishing the course.
Not only did she complete it in an impressive 2 hours and 11 minutes, but she soon received a shocking email confirming her world championship qualification.

This kind of functional power is a game-changer for those training for Hyrox or at a local CrossFit box.
By performing these drills after a warm-up, you activate fast-twitch muscle fibers crucial for both strength and speed.

To combat this, fitness experts are championing senior power training, and one of the most effective tools is the medicine ball.
Safe, low-impact exercises like the seated medicine ball throw can significantly improve postural control and muscle reaction time, even after a single session.
This training directly rehearses the rapid responses needed for daily life.
By starting with a light weight and focusing on the speed of movement, seniors can proactively invest in their stability, confidence, and long-term quality of life. Read More... |
